Bulky Waste Collections

• How do I make a booking?

  Bookings can be made online or by T. 028 9034 0056 (Monday – Friday 9am-5pm).

• Do I have to pay for a collection?

  No, the service is free of charge. However if your collection will take more than 15 minutes to complete, e.g. due to quantity, location and accessibility of the items, there may be a charge for collection, subject to assessment.

  
  Please ensure that your items are presented neatly and bundled where possible, to keep the likelihood of the charge being applied to a minimum. If payment is required, the items will be assessed, and then you will be contacted for payment prior to the collection being rescheduled.

• What items can be collected?

  • Large white electrical goods (e.g. fridge, cooker, washing machine)

  • Soft furnishings (e.g. bed, mattress, sofa, armchair) and large white electrical goods. Soft furnishings must be covered and kept dry for collection

  • Kitchen units and worktops (any dismantled units must be broken up, bundled and tied. Full kitchens will not be collected)

  • Green waste (bulky items of green waste that do not fit into your brown bin. Please ensure that they are presented in a way that ensures that crews can collect them in an efficient manner e.g. bundling or bagging smaller branches and hedge cuttings and neatly stacking larger branches)

  • Greenhouses - glass must be removed. Sections must be broken down into lengths of 4ft or less

  • Wooden fence panels and dismantled sheds - must be broken down into lengths of 4ft or less. Nails and screws must be removed or hammered in

  • Window frames - glass must be removed. Sections must be broken down and bundled into lengths of 4ft or less

  • Doors - glass must be removed

  • Baths - fibreglass, tin or steel baths can be collected as one complete unit. Due to their weight, cast iron baths must be broken up

  • Shower units - glass must be removed

• What items cannot be collected?

  Unfortunately we cannot collect the following items:

  • Waste which is not bulky and could be placed in your household bin

  • Glass, plasterboard or asbestos

  • Building materials (including paint)

  • Oil tanks

  • Tyres

  • Heavy items e.g. concrete coal bunker

  • Commercial items

• When should I leave my items out?

  Your items should be left out by 7am the next working day following your request.

• When will my items be collected?

  We aim to collect items as soon as possible however residents are advised that it may take up to 10 working days and may be longer during busy periods We appreciate your patience. 

• Where should I leave my items?

  Items must be left outside, in an easily accessible location e.g. to the front, side or rear of the property and free from possible safety hazards. 

  
  Items will not be collected from inside the dwelling, garage, shed or outbuildings. 
  
  Please ensure that ONLY the items you have listed for collection, are presented at the location specified at time of booking. Items will not be collected if they are not presented at the specified location. 

• How should my items be presented?

  Items should be placed neatly in one clear location; removing or hammering down nails; breaking items down to 4ft lengths if possible; and bundling or bagging the waste if possible. If the items include textiles (i.e. mattresses, armchairs etc.) these should be covered to keep them dry.

• How many items can be collected?

  Households are limited to 3 items per collection, however if the collection takes more than 15 minutes, there will be a charge. 

• Important Notice

  To ensure the health and safety of our staff, please ensure you clean down your item when it is left out for collection.
  
  Items must be left for collection outside, in an easily accessible location e.g. to the front, side or rear of the property and free from possible safety hazards. 
  
  Items will not be collected from inside the dwelling, garage, shed or outbuildings.
   
  Please ensure that ONLY the items you have listed for collection, are presented at the specified location.
