Community Training Programme

Community Training Programme

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council's most recent Community Capacity Building Programme ran from January to March 2024.

The purpose of the programme was to develop the capacity and skills of volunteers and paid workers from voluntary/community organisations within the Borough and to have a positive impact on the number and quality of successful community development projects delivered in the Borough.

We have provided training in a number of key areas including Safeguarding, Basic First Aid with AED, Food Safety, Funding Application support, Basic DIY Skills for Women and an OCN in Events Management.

All such courses were proposed through feedback from participants on previous year’s programmes.

Officers are currently developing this year’s Community Capacity Building Programme. This will commence in October and include courses in Registering as a Charity and Digital Communication.

Celebrating Success Event

From October 2022 to April 2024, more the 150 volunteers and paid staff belonging to community and voluntary groups participated in the Capacity Building Programme. Their dedication was recognised and celebrated at the 'Celebrating Success' Community Graduation Event held at Mossley Mill on 18 April 2024. This night also offered a platform for participants to provide feedback on how we could improve the programme in the future.
