Strong Turnout at Antrim and Newtownabbey Jobs and Apprenticeship Fair

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, in partnership with the Department for Communities, hosted a highly successful Jobs and Careers Fair at Antrim Forum on 10 October, attracting over 700 attendees. The event featured more than 100 job opportunities from 70 employers across sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, retail, hospitality, and engineering, alongside 18 support organisations offering expert careers and training advice.

A special session for Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools allowed students to explore accessible career paths and engage with employers. Mayor Leah Kirkpatrick highlighted the event’s impact, while Communities Minister Gordon Lyons praised the collaboration in connecting local jobseekers with opportunities.

Exhibitor feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with nearly all participants satisfied with the event. Jobseekers can keep up to date with local vacancies via the Antrim and Newtownabbey Jobs Facebook page, and for employability support or training enquiries, contact T. skills@antrimandnewtownabbey.gov.uk.
