Small Settlement Programme

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, in partnership with the Department for Communities (DfC), Department for Infrastructure (DfI) and Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA), will soon be commencing a £500,000 Environmental Improvement Scheme in your village under the Small Settlements
Regeneration Programme.


Doagh Square

Doagh Square will commence 15 May 2024.


Doagh Square will see new paving and seating installed as well as new boundary wall and railings. The current
shelter will also be repaired and a special artistic feature celebrating the history and heritage of the area
will also be installed.

The square will be closed off completely with no access to the public for a period of around 12 weeks. All local
businesses will remain unaffected by the closure and will operate as normal.

Doagh Anderson Park

Doagh Anderson Park
 

Anderson Park will commence on 7 May 2024.

Anderson Park will benefit from significant works to repair the playpark and MUGA Pitch, repair the
existing pathways, create two new trails around the site and install new street furniture, picnic benches
and planters.

The project will last for a period of around 10 weeks. Residents can expect some minor disruption
however there will be no restrictions on vehicle access in and around the area.

Burnside

The programme of works will commence on 20 May 2024 and last for around 16 weeks.

Residents should expect some minor disruption to the site throughout this period however, the majority of
walkways will remain open. During the lifetime of the project some routes and pathways will be subject to
some short-term closures however these will be clearly marked. Heavy plant machinery will also be on
site and appropriate care should be taken, especially with young children and animals.
