The Digital Surge programme was a NI-Wide programme partly funded by all 11 local authorities, Invest NI and the EU. It supported 213 business by providing up to 42 hours of one-on-one mentoring with industry experts in areas such as Internet of Things, AI, Robotics/Cobotics, Big Data, Immersive Technology (Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality) Process Automation and Blockchain technology.

Businesses explored digital transformation through 30 masterclasses within these fields of study and on successful completion of the scheme were presented with a Digital Acceleration Plan to organise their future development and digital growth.

Following the great success of Digital Surge on the 30th September, local authorities are preparing for another Digital Transformation capital grant scheme. Titled the Digital Transformation Flexible Fund (DTFF), the program will start in Winter 2023 and will last approximately 3 years. It will provide £5,000 to £20,000 funding for any local businesses Digital Transformation, allowing them to purchase hardware, software, and digital equipment as long as the planned transformation includes one of the six primary technologies utilised during Digital Surge. The grant will cover up to 70% of a businesses proposed Digital Transformation project.
