The Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Jim Montgomery has opened an online book of condolence for residents of the Borough who wish to pay tribute to the former SDLP leader and Nobel Laureate for Peace, John Hume.
 
The Mayor said,

“John Hume was a man of huge political significance in Northern Ireland’s history. Steadfastly opposed to violence, his vision would play a major role in ending conflict, and founding the institutions that serve our people today. On behalf of the people of Antrim and Newtownabbey I offer sincere condolences to his wife Pat, his family circle, and his political colleagues.”
