Two Minute Stations

When you refill, why not take 2 minutes using the litter pickers and reusable bags provided to stop plastics and litter reaching our water ways?

Take the Pledge

Did you know, Northern Ireland uses 145 million single use plastic bottles every year? 340 million plastic bottles a year could be saved if just 1 in 10 people refilled just once a week.

By making the switch to reusable bottles and not buying single-use plastic bottles, we can all play our part to help reduce plastic waste!

Come along to find out more about Refillution, sign the pledge and get your free refillable water bottle during the dedicated Refilliton campaign which is being run across Antrim and Newtownabbey Leisure Centres by Council working in partnership with NI Water:

  • 1 June - Ballyearl Leisure Centre
  • 2 June - Antrim Forum
  • 6 June Valley Leisure Centre
  • 9 June Sixmile Leisure Centre

Solar Powered Bins

Solar Powered Bins

We now have 26 solar powered bins placed along the Antrim & Newtownabbey shores. The bins are fitted with sensors to alert crews when the bins are reaching capacity so they can be emptied in a bid to prevent overflow. These bins can store up to 20 times the amount of waste as normal buns, requiring them to be emptied less frequently, and therefore cutting emissions.
