Pogue's Entry

Pogue's Entry contains the childhood home of Alexander Irvine, who became a missionary in New York's Bowery and eventually pastor of the Church of the Ascension on Fifth Avenue. His book 'My Lady of The Chimney Corner' recalls his boyhood years in Pogue’s Entry and describes the lives of Irish country folk during the post famine days.  We invite you to Pogue's Entry for a day of storytelling and readings suitable for all the family!

The cottage has been preserved in the style it was in when Irvine and his family lived here in the late 1800s, and in recent years the Irish Garden Plant Society has added a beautiful cottage garden around the cottage full of Irish varieties of plants, fruit and vegetables.
