Temporary Fitness Suite 

The temporary fitness suite is now open and available for customers to use and is located on the same floor as the existing suite. When the new fitness suite opens, work will begin on the two new studios. The equipment in the temporary suite includes cardio, fixed resistance, strength, functional, and stretch, as well as a 4-bay lifting rig with new bars and bumper plates.

The Council has funded this multi-million pound project under its capital investment scheme, offering residents and visitors one of the best, most well-equipped fitness facilities in the UK and Ireland.

• Q. When will the new fitness suite open?

  Work is now underway on the temporary fitness suite. We expect the new fitness suite to open late summer/early Autumn 2023, however this could change, and we will endeavour to keep our members up to date with the key milestones of this project.

• Q. When will the new fitness studios be open?

  Once the Fitness Suite is open, work will begin on the construction of the new interactive fitness studios in place of the temporary fitness suite. This work is expected to be completed by Winter 2023.  

• Q. Can I still use the fitness suite at the Antrim Forum when the construction gets underway?

  Yes, a temporary 60 station Fitness Suite will be available right beside the existing Fitness Suite. Our Fitness Team will be on hand to provide programmes and inductions for members.

  You will still be able to complete your work-out here with all the same equipment, including a full range of CV kit, fixed strength. What’s more, we will also be installing a new four bay rig to expand on the existing strength provision. We’re also planning to have additional classes at the Antrim Forum for those who wish to try out a new fitness class.  

  Please stay with us while we improve your local leisure centre.

• Q. Where are the changing rooms at for the temporary fitness suite?

  Many of our members come gym ready, however for those wishing to avail of the changing rooms and showering facilities, you will be able to use the existing village change at the Antrim Forum.

• Q. Will there be inductions and programmes offered in the temporary fitness suite?

  Our Fitness Team will be offering inductions and bespoke fitness programmes for our members.

• Q. Will there be any disruption to service while work is underway to the fitness suite?

  There will be a temporary closure of up to four days so we can move the existing gym equipment into the temporary fitness suite. We will aim to reduce this break in service as much as possible. As always, you can use our other fitness suites at Crumlin, Sixmile, Ballyearl and Valley.  

• Q. What will the opening hours be for the temporary fitness suite?

  Access to the temporary fitness suite will be normal opening hours, which are 6am – 9.45pm Monday to Friday and 8am – 3.45pm, Saturday and Sunday.

   The fitness suite numbers will be monitored and reviewed by staff.  

• Q. Will members have to book into fitness sessions?

  The temporary Fitness Suite will be open all members. The centre management and fitness team will monitor and review on a regular basis.

• Q. What is the access options for disabled users?

  There will be lift access available directly into the temporary fitness suite.  

• Q. What changing areas will be available?

  There are existing ground floor dry changing, village change and showers available.

• Q. What toilet facilities will be available?

  Toilet facilities are located in the existing dry and village changing areas on the ground floor. There will also be toilets available beside the temporary Fitness Suite.  

• Q. Will there be lockers in the temporary fitness suite?

  There will be a limited number of small lockers located in the temporary fitness suite.
