The Health Intervention Action Plan (2022-2027) has identified several programmes that will be delivered through partnership planning and user engagement. The ultimate goal for the Health Intervention Action Plan is to increase regular and sustainable participation of all age groups and be receptive to the needs of our users and our residents.

PARS (Physical Activity Referral Scheme)

PARS (Physical Activity Referral Scheme)
 

PARS (Physical Activity Referral Scheme) is a 12-week fitness programme, which offers participants with various health conditions a positive introduction to getting MORE active. 

Clients must meet a specific criteria and be referred by their General Practitioner or a health professional in order to be eligible for the scheme.

More Movement for the Mind

More Movement for the Mind is a blended programme of exercise and relaxation delivered in three of our Leisure Centres weekly. It's a great way to start your fitness journey, while boosting your mood and energy. 

What’s involved?

Participants can book here and enjoy a light to medium group circuit class with a relaxation element to finish.

This is an open programme whereby participants can attend in a drop in basis.

A series of closed mental health programmes is also available for participants who have severe mental health issues. These programmes are delivered on a referral basis in partnership with various Health Professionals and Charities. E:  more@antrimandnewtownabbey.gov.uk

More Movement for the Mind

Move More Macmillan Cancer Rehabilitation Programme

The Move More Macmillan Cancer Rehabilitation Programme is a 12-week fitness programme that offers a physical activity pathway for those living with and beyond cancer. The programme is designed to help get  a client started on their fitness journey.

Clients can be referred by health professionals or they can self-refer onto the Move More Macmillan programme.

  • Prescribe Fitness Programme & Classes 
  • Once 12 week membership expires completers are eligible for a concessionary membership £16 per month in Year 1, £20 in Year 2 and £22 in Year 3.
