Track Running

Antrim Forum’s Northern Ireland Athletic Track brand-new 8-lane athletic track is designed to meet international standards, this facility offers the perfect environment for training and competitions.


About the Track

Opened in 1972, Antrim Stadium has long been a cornerstone of local athletics and nurturing talent. The training ground of Ballymena and Antrim Athletics Club, it's founders, Sean and Maeve Kyle were instrumental in the development of the athletics track at Antrim Forum. PACE Running Group also train at the track. 

Renamed the Northern Ireland Centenary Stadium in 2020, it closed temporarily in 2024 for a major refurbishment. Today, the newly resurfaced track is once again open, offering top-class training facilities to local clubs and athletes.

Track Features:

  • 8 IAAF-Compliant Lanes: Designed to meet international standards, the track includes eight precision-marked lanes suitable for sprints, middle-distance, and long-distance events.
  • High-Performance Surface: Constructed with an all-weather polyurethane sandwich surface, offering excellent traction and consistent usability throughout the year.
  • Comprehensive Field Event Facilities: Equipped for long jump, triple jump, high jump, pole vault, and shot put. A new Thor 9 throwing cage—suitable for both hammer and discus events—will be installed soon.
  • LED Lighting System: High-efficiency LED lighting allows for safe training and competitions during evening hours.
  • Spectator Seating & Accessibility: Covered spectator area with ADA-compliant access, ensuring an inclusive experience for all visitors.
  • Ground Floor Events Room: Available for booking and ideal for meetings, workshops, or team gatherings. Toilet facilities available.
  • First Floor Event Spaces: Includes a primary events room with a PA system, and a secondary room featuring a photo-finish system (operated exclusively by Athletics NI officials).

Whether you're a competitive sprinter, a casual runner, or an event organiser, our facility is built to support your goals.

The track is open to many user groups including:

  • Training ground of Ballymena and Antrim Athletic Club and PACE Running Group.
  • Casual users – please book via the app or click here. Select racquet sports/Antrim Forum/ Track. This is a running option only, no equipment.
  • MORE members can use the track as part of their membership.
  • Non-member price for adults is £6 and £4 for junior/concession.
  • Local clubs & professional athletes.
  • Community members.
  • Event organisers (meets, marathons, youth leagues). Please make stadium bookings through the MORE team.

Please note only assistance and guide dogs are allowed on the stadium grounds.
