Second Quarterly Bulletin of Northern Ireland Planning Statistics

The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) on 20 December produced the second quarterly provisional planning statistics for 2018/19.

The figures from July to September 2018 showed that the Council’s Planning Team: -

  • received 160 new applications
  • took on average 24.2 weeks to process and decide Major planning applications, with this figure being well below the target of 30 weeks
  • took an average of 13 weeks to process and decide local planning applications, instead of the target of 15 weeks.

The Planning Enforcement Team once again recorded the shortest time taken, 14.6 weeks, to process 70% of enforcement cases. This is a fantastic result as the average of other Council’s took 27 weeks to process, with the target processing time being 39 weeks.

These figures once again show the Council’s Planning Team’s commitment to delivering a high quality service for residents and business owners in the Borough. It also results in the Council ranking in the top three of the 11 Council’s in Northern Ireland.
