• Waste Collections
  • Due to recent weather conditions, there have been severe disruptions to collections across the Borough. Crews will be attempting to collect all missed areas on Saturday 11th January.
  • Black/Blue Bins
  • If your blue or black bin has not been collected by late afternoon on Saturday 11th January, please leave your bins kerbside for 7am on Monday 13th January to facilitate collection.
  • Wheelie boxes
  • If your wheelie box has not been collected by late afternoon on Saturday 11th January it will be collected at the next scheduled date. Crews will take overflow bags, one material in each, no glass.

Antrim Castle Gardens Host Royal Gun Salute

The award-winning Antrim Castle Gardens hosted a Royal Gun Salute in celebration of Her Majesty the Queen’s Coronation Day, on Monday 03 June 2019.

This prestigious event was led by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant, Mrs Joan Christie CVO OBE and the Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Alderman John Smyth.

The Mayor commented “I am honoured as Mayor of this Borough to be part of this significant occasion. I am delighted that the Majestic Antrim Castle Gardens were chosen again following the success of The Queen’s Royal Gun Salute held here on  21 April 2018 “.

The Royal Gun Salute was attended by a number of military units including 206 Battery Royal Artillery, 38(Irish) Brigade, No. 502 (Ulster) Squadron and 2 R Irish. 

This event was open to the public and we were delighted that a number of local primary schools where amongst the onlookers who were able to see this spectacular event first hand.
