New allotment plans planted

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is planning to provide over 70 new allotments in the coming months.

Planning permission was granted for the much sought-after amenities by the Council’s Planning Committee at their November meeting and the approved schemes will create 35 new plots at Crumlin with a further 36 planned for Newtownabbey in due course.

Work is now commencing to bring the projects to fruition and this will see the introduction of the popular facilities in Crumlin where the plots will be accessed via the Orchard Road.

The phased plans will also see new allotments being created at Derrycoole Way in Newtownabbey on lands adjacent to the playing fields at Rathcoole Primary School.
