Stay At Home this Easter

Mayor, Alderman John Smyth urges residents to stay at home this Easter

The Easter holidays are now upon us and Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Alderman John Smyth is urging residents to stay at home this bank holiday weekend;

“I know that many of you have been adhering to the Government guidance and staying at home and there is evidence that social distancing is beginning to have an effect so it is vital that we continue to do our bit in this fight against Coronavirus and stay at home.

While it might be tempting to pack the family into the car and head off for a day out this Easter weekend, it is more important than ever that we stay at home and prevent the spread of the virus.

So many of our key workers are putting their lives at risk every day on the front line and the only thing we are being asked to do is to stay at home. So I plead with you all, please do not be selfish and risk the lives of others and stay at home.

The Council have posted lots of ideas on Facebook for things to keep you all entertained over the break, so be sure to have a look.

I hope you all have an enjoyable break and please stay safe.”
