The Mayor with the help of the Deputy Mayor has picked his winning Christmas card design. Earlier this month the Mayor, Councillor Jim Montgomery put out an appeal to the children of the Borough to help him design his Christmas card.

With over eighty entries received the Mayor and Deputy Mayor had a tough job in hand deciding on a winner.

However Finn Maguire, a pupil at Thompson Primary school was awarded as the overall winner and her winning design will be used for the Mayor’s Christmas card.

The Mayor commented “Both I and the Deputy Mayor were highly impressed with the creativity and talent portrayed in each of the entries received, thus making it more difficult for us to choose a winner. The winning design details all of the elements that we wish for at Christmas and what is important to us at this special time of year. Given that Christmas will look a lot different this year it was important that the design would help spread some festive cheer. I would like to personally thank each and every one of you who took part in this competition”.

Winner Finn Maguire added “I was so happy when I found out I was the winner of the Mayors Christmas Card competition, it was a great surprise and I am super excited to see the finished Christmas card”.

As part of the competition an additional seven winners, one from each of the District Electoral Areas (DEA’s) will be announced at our virtual Christmas tree light switch on events. For more details visit www.antrimandnewtownabbey.gov.uk/christmas
