Marshals Support Town Centre Recovery

Over recent weekends, the Council has introduced some new additions to the recovery efforts in our town centres and shopping centres.  The local marshals are out and about each Saturday in Antrim, Ballyclare, Crumlin, Glengormley and Randalstown providing advice to shoppers and supporting local businesses.

Log onto Christmas

Christmas may look a lot different this year, however Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council still plans to share some festive cheer.  A ‘Virtual Christmas’ will be organised for each of the Christmas tree ‘switch ons’ across the seven District Electoral Areas (DEA’s): Antrim Town, Ballyclare, Crumlin, Threemilewater, Randalstown and Rathcoole. Plans for this festive programme ‘Log onto Christmas’ include an interactive children’s story with Mr Hullabaloo,Cool FM Stuart Robinson, live music, Santa, prizes and many more sparkling surprises.

Life and Legend of the Lough to be at the heart of The Gateway Centre

Earlier this year The Gateway Centre, nestled on the banks of Lough Neagh, received funding from the Department for Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs and the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) through the Lough Neagh Landscape Partnership towards an interpretive display within the exhibition space.

£200k Financial Assistance released for Local Businesses

As part of the Council’s response to the ongoing COVID19 pandemic, 98 businesses are set to benefit from grants of £1,000.  Working with the Department for Communities who have provided this funding, the Council has engaged with businesses in town centre and village locations to identify their immediate needs as a result of the pandemic.
