Council supports electrical skills training development pilot

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is working in partnership with local company, Horizon Engineering on a pilot project. 

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is working in partnership with local company, Horizon Engineering on a pilot project aimed at enhancing the employability skills of those in the electrical engineering industry.

Horizon Engineering has developed two bespoke training courses which provide the necessary underpinning safety, legal, technical, operational and procedural background knowledge for people wishing to further their electrical engineering careers.

As part of the pilot, the Council is offering support to up to 6 employers within the Borough who wish to avail of the course by contributing 40% of the total £1,200 course fee.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Jim Montgomery said;

“There is no doubt that our economy has been significantly impacted as a result of COVID19. As a Council, we are committed to developing the right mix of skills across our Borough and will continue to seek opportunities that support the recovery of our local economy and secure a more prosperous future.”
