Mayor recognises service of St John Ambulance volunteers

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Jim Montgomery was delighted to present certificates to volunteers from St John Ambulance, Antrim Unit. 

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Jim Montgomery recently recognised those volunteers from St John Ambulance, Antrim Unit for their work throughout the COVID19 crisis.
 
The Mayor presented certificates to more than 40 local volunteers at a special reception at Antrim Castle Gardens. Also in attendance was St John Ambulance Chief Executive, Adrian Donaldson and Lead Volunteer, Dr Norman Walker.
 
Councillor Montgomery said;

“It is an honour for me to thank these volunteers on behalf of the citizens of our Borough and present them with a certificate in recognition of their hard work. Their generous and selfless support as volunteers has kept others safe and helped save lives during this crisis.”

 
During the reception, the Mayor also paid tribute to the Deputy Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Noreen McClelland who is the president of St John Ambulance, Antrim.

“Noreen was a huge source of encouragement and inspiration to all the volunteers during the pandemic. As well as answering phone calls and sourcing funding, she personally delivered PPE equipment right across the province, ensuring ambulances were kept operational on the front line.”
