Are you a small business in a rural area of the Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough? If so, you may be eligible for funding under the latest Rural Business Development Grant Scheme.

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is welcoming applications for grants of up to £4,999, at a 50% grant rate, through the Department of Agriculture, Environment & Rural Affairs’ Tackling Rural Poverty & Social Isolation (TRPSI) Programme. The Programme aims to help businesses sustain jobs and recover from the difficult impacts of the COVID19 pandemic or to grow and develop the business. The Grant Scheme is applicable to capital items, and to be eligible to apply, the business must have less than 10 full-time equivalent employees and not have benefitted from the grant previously.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Billy Webb commented:

“These grants are a great way of helping our rural businesses on the road to recovery. If you are unsure whether you are based in a rural area of the Borough or need more information on whether you are eligible, then make sure you get in touch. The grant covers capital costs such as equipment, machinery, computers and an e-commerce website. I would encourage our local rural businesses to take advantage of the help that is available and submit an application.”

Applications close at 12pm on 30 July 2021. For more information including eligibility criteria or to apply visit www.antrimandnewtownabbey.gov.uk/ruralbusinessgrants or text Business Rural to 80039.
