The most significant catalyst for change in place-shaping across Antrim and Newtownabbey is moving closer to completion. The new Local Development Plan, will inform the planning framework for the Borough through to 2030 and following an extensive public engagement exercise, representations and views have now been considered by the Council and worked into a Draft Plan Strategy. That Strategy is now ready for examination and scrutiny under the Independent Examination Process by the Planning Appeals Commission. Chair of the Planning Committee, Alderman Tom Campbell, said
“Planning is key to so many aspects of daily life. Housing, education, infrastructure, businesses, rural communities and our natural and historic environment will all be influenced by our Local Development Plan. The Council has taken on board views from a wide range of stakeholders, and sincerely thank all those who responded to our consultation exercise.”
“We are confident our plans are now ready for Independent Examination and look forward to making further progress in putting it into action.”
