Antrim and Newtownabbey Gardeners Top of the Crop at Translink Ulster in Bloom Awards

The Translink Ulster in Bloom Awards made a welcome return to honour the green-fingered enthusiast across the country.

The Translink Ulster in Bloom Awards made a welcome return to honour the green-fingered enthusiast across the country. We are delighted that more achievements have been awarded to the incredible gardens across Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough.

The much-loved annual horticultural, environmental and community competition officially recognises the most beautiful plant and floral displays across local cities, towns and villages. Within the Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough area, there have been several towns that have achieved this prestigious award.

The 2021 Award winners by category were: Small Town, Randalstown, Small Village Ballynure and The Translink 25th Anniversary Display award was presented to Randalstown. Special Award winners, Whiteabbey were presented in the Community category meanwhile McConnells Bar were presented Floral Presentation Awards.

The Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Billy Webb said

“What a huge achievement to see so many wonderful spaces being recognised by the Translink Ulster in Bloom Award. I am delighted that the skill, passion and dedication of those who give their time to ensure these spaces remain beautiful, has been recognised. A huge congratulations to all involved and thank you for all that you do to ensure the community can continue to enjoy these wonderful displays.”

The Translink Ulster in Bloom Competition is co-ordinated by the Northern Ireland Local Government Association (NILGA).
