Celebrating Christmas across the Borough

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council will support eleven community groups across the Borough with Christmas celebration events.

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council will support eleven community groups across the Borough with Christmas celebration events.  A Christmas Community Celebration fund was set up in 2018 to assist community groups wanting to deliver their own Christmas events.

The community groups will receive funding totalling £7,350, including

  • Ballyduff Community Regeneration Group - £1,000
  • Ballynure & District Community Association - £650
  • Ballyrobert Village Committee - £550
  • Burnside and District Community Group - £500
  • CORE New Mossley - £500
  • Doagh Cultural Society - £1,000
  • Parkgate and District Community Group - £650
  • Mallusk Community Action Group - £500
  • Straid Village and District Community Group - £500
  • Templepatrick Action Community Association - £500
  • TIDAL - £1,000

The funding will help these groups to host their own Christmas tree light switch on ceremonies, Children’s Christmas parties, Carol Services, Santa trials and grottos and much more.

The Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey Councillor Billy Webb said

“Christmas is a time to celebrate and come together as a community. It is good to see these groups receive support from the Council to provide local residents with Christmas activities”.
