Fancy a ‘wee dander’ then why not join us for an Ulster Scots themed Walking Tour

Fancy a ‘wee dander’ then why not join us for an Ulster Scots themed Walking Tour. The Council is hosting a number of walking tours in Newtownabbey, Ballyclare and Antrim areas, as part of Ulster Scots Leid Week which runs from 22-27 November 2021. The tours will be hosted by experienced tour guide Donal Kelly and will last approximately one hour, concluding with light refreshments and an opportunity to learn more about the local heritage. So put a date in your diary and join us.

  • Antrim Town Walking Tour: Wednesday 24 November 2021, 10am – 11.30am. Commencing and concluding at The Old Courthouse Theatre, Antrim.
  • Newtownabbey Walking Tour: Thursday 25 November 2021, 10am – 11.30am.Commencing and concluding at The Whitehouse, Newtownabbey.
  • Ballyclare Walking Tour: Friday 26 November 10am-11.30am.

Commencing and concluding at Ballyclare Town Hall, Ballyclare.

Ulster Scots Leid Week runs across Northern Ireland with a wide variety of activity being delivered to promote awareness of the Ulster Scots Language coordinated by the Ulster Scots Agency. Whether ye hae a wheen or a rake o wurds, get ready tae celebrate thegither as Ulster-Scots Language Week returns for 2021!  Since its formation, one of the core functions of the Ulster-Scots Agency has been to help folk to understand more about the Ulster-Scots language, the role that it plays in the lives of its speakers and the place that it has within our wider community.
