Live Long Easter Event at the Valley Leisure Centre

The Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Billy Webb joined leisure centre teams from across the Borough at the Valley Leisure Centre to compete for the Live Long Trophy.

The Live Long programme is designed to get people over the age of 50 together in a fun and enjoyable setting to boost mental, physical and social fitness through the power of sport.  Delivered in partnership with Sport Changes Lives Foundation, the programme offers the opportunity to play badminton, pickleball, indoor bowls, boccia and table tennis.

The Mayor commented, “It’s great to see so many people coming together, battling it out for the team trophy and of course, socialising again after such a prolonged period during the pandemic when these events weren’t possible. The Live Long Programme highlights the valuable role that sport and physical activity plays in bringing people together, enjoying a cup of tea after a workout and in combating loneliness for people in our communities.”
