In an effort to make our open spaces a safe place for our residents and visitors to enjoy, the Council has made some changes to the Dog Control Order at Sandyknowes Park.
While dogs can continue to run and play off lead in a large area of the park, they will no longer be permitted to enter the sports pitch area of Sandyknowes Park, either on or off a lead. This is in addition to the play park area which has been out of bounds for dogs for some time.
Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey Councillor Billy Webb commented,
“It is important that shared spaces such as our parks are safe, clean and pleasant for all our residents and visitors to enjoy. Sandyknowes Park is a great facility with plenty of room for lots of different activities. We welcome dogs in the park but in order to keep everyone safe, there are some restrictions on where they can go”.
