Randalstown Plants Their Bid for Community Garden

As part of the celebrations for Garden Day 2022, the RHS is committing to deliver a new community garden to each of the UK’s four home nations. A successful bid for Tidy Randalstown would see the new Community Garden build start in March of this year with planned completion in time for the summer weather in June.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Billy Webb said,

“Community gardens offer many wellbeing and environmental benefits to the local community. The power of planting has a phenomenal impact on our mental and physical health. I know there will be an enthusiastic community involvement and I wish Tidy Randalstown every success in their application.”

Randalstown is firmly positioned as the Borough’s best kept small town, having successfully coveted titles such as ‘Ulster in Bloom’ and ‘Best Kept Town’ in Ireland.

The Community Garden project grant will include material costs, hard landscaping, design and project management. It will also cover a maintenance contribution of up to £5,000 per year for three years plus and funding up to £1,000 to support a member of the group to gain an RHS Level 2 qualification.
