Marking Her Majesty, the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee this year, the Council will light up its Council buildings purple along with a special Mayoral message on 6 February 2022, to commemorate the Queen’s accession to the throne.

The light up is the first of a series of events to recognise the Queen’s Platinum.  The Jubilee weekend, running from 2-5 June, welcomes lots more celebratory activities including community funding and packs for groups and individual areas who would like to organise traditional street parties, beacon lightings across the Borough, and commemorative coins for all Primary 7 pupils.

The highlight of the weekend will be a large music event, so keep following our social media for a special announcement on who the star act is and how to get tickets!

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Billy Webb said; “It’s great to have a series of community wide events to get everyone involved in marking such as significant anniversary for the Queen. 70 years of service is a remarkable achievement and events such as these local event pay tribute to all her work and strength of faith.”
