£500k Car Park Improvements

The first phase of the £500k upgrade on the Council’s town centre and village car parks has been complete with plans to begin the next phase early in 2022.

Phase One of Antrim Central carpark has been completed as well as the main Antrim Forum carpark.  Final improvements to the Antrim Forum entrance will be completed this month.  The Square Car Park in Ballyclare has also had improvement works carried out to improve drainage and has been relined.

Car parks are a key feature of our town centres and villages and support not only the shops and businesses in the towns but they also improve the attractiveness and accessibility of our Borough.

The next phase of the car park improvements will begin early 2022 and will include Harrier Way in Ballyclare, Portglenone Road in Randalstown and Bridge Street carpark in Antrim.

Longer term, you will see improvement works starting in other towns and villages. These include Shore Road carpark, Whiteabbey, Railway Street, Antrim and John Street in Randalstown.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Billy Webb said;

“This is a great step forward in improving facilities for our residents and visitors and encouraging them to shop in our town centres and villages.  I am delighted that works in Antrim Central were completed in time to host over 100,000 visitors to our magical Enchanted Winter Gardens and I would like to thank our Antrim Forum customers for their patience as we upgraded the facility”.
