Nominations Now Open for Spirit of Christmas Awards 2022

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is helping spread some Christmas cheer as nominations open for this year’s Spirit of Christmas Awards 2022. The Awards identify the amazing work that is carried out in our communities and recognises the efforts made by Local Businesses, Schools, Churches, Community and Voluntary Groups at this special time of year.

The Award categories are as follows:

  • Light Up Award – Best Lit Street/Town/Village.  The wider community working together to create the best lit street/town/village within the Borough.      
  • Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree Award.  Best programme of festive entertainment within a business or community setting.     
  • Reason for the Season Award.  The most festive school, church or community facility.     
  • Making an Entrance Award.  The best dressed entrance feature or shop front.
  • Traditional Christmas Award.  Recognising acts of goodwill during the festive season.     
  • North Star Award.  Most outstanding Christmas Display in the Borough.


Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey Alderman Stephen Ross said:

“I am delighted the Council is hosting these awards and recognising the great work carried out throughout our communities.  I look forward to seeing the entries and I would urge you all to nominate and help spread some festive joy this Christmas.”

Nominations open on Monday 21 November 2022 and will close on Tuesday 13 December 2022 at 4pm. Winners for each category will be invited to an awards presentation at The Oriel Gallery, Clotworthy House on Tuesday 20 December 2022. For more details or to nominate click here.
