Take a Spin down to the Vehicle Roadshow

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is once again teaming up with the Newtownabbey Road Safety Committee in conjunction with Bailies Auto and Magowan Tyres to host this year’s Newtownabbey Vehicle Roadshow on Saturday 8 October.

The Roadshow helps raise awareness of road safety measures and improve air quality, by allowing motorists to have vehicle emissions testing, headlight testing and a tyre safety check.

The roadshow will take place in the bottom end of the carpark at Tesco, Abbey Retail Park, Newtownabbey from 10am to 2pm on Saturday 8 October and all checks will be free of charge. The vehicle emission testing will check the amount of pollution contained within the exhaust fumes of your car, while the headlight testing carried out by Bailies Auto will check the alignment of your headlights. Staff from Magowan Tyres will also be carrying out tyre safety inspections. Advice will be given if remedial steps are required.

Deputy Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Leah Smyth said,

I am delighted the Council is working in partnership with the Newtownabbey Road Safety Committee on this event. Cars contribute vastly to the levels of air pollution and it is therefore important for motorists to have this test carried out. Tyre safety is also extremely important in the lead up to the cold winter months so I would encourage everyone to drop by and take advantage of these free checks.
