Plastics manufacturer Brett Martin is to undergo a £5.8m expansion at its facility in Mallusk, after planning approval was granted by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council.

The company, which manufactures specialist plastic products for a range of sectors, has linked up with landowner Ballinamallard Developments Ltd for the project next to its existing base on Roughfort Road.

The development will include an expansion of the main Brett Martin facility, providing additional storage and distribution warehousing.

Now approaching its 65th year, the family-owned firm, which employs over 500 staff at Mallusk and exports its products to over 70 countries, said this investment will help facilitate development of the wider site.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey Alderman Stephen Ross said:

“As a long-standing local company, it is great to see Brett Martin commit to further investment in the Borough.

Commenting on the development, Laurence Martin, Managing Director, Brett Martin said;

“Our business has been continually expanding at our Mallusk site and this type of investment is made with a medium to long term view. While the economy and construction market are expected to face challenges in the coming months across our key markets, we are confident that these investments will facilitate our continued growth in coming years.”
