The Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Alderman Stephen Ross and Deputy Mayor Councillor Leah Smyth have both paid tribute to Chief Executive Mrs Jacqui Dixon who was recently awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours List.
Speaking on the award Alderman Ross said:
“I was thrilled to hear the news that our Chief Executive, Jacqui Dixon, was awarded an MBE in His Majesty the King’s New Year Honours List.This recognition is most fitting for Jacqui, who has worked diligently for both this Council and legacy Newtownabbey Council, and has served in local government for over 23 years. Her vision, leadership, commitment and fortitude have been instrumental not only to the economic success of our Borough, but to the highly effective, efficient and impactful performance of our Council.
“On behalf of my Elected Member colleagues, I extend our warm congratulations to Jacqui on this well-deserved award – a testament to her service to the residents and businesses in our Borough. “
Councillor Leah Smyth added:
“I would like to extend my personal congratulations to our Chief Executive on receiving this award. Having had the pleasure of working with Jacqui for several years, I have witnessed first-hand her loyalty, dedication and her unfaltering drive to deliver the best for the people of our Borough. I am delighted that her hard work has been recognised in this way.”
Jacqui Dixon MBE started her career with Newtownabbey Borough Council in 1999 as Economic Development Manager. In 2005 she joined Craigavon Borough Council as Director of Development Services before returning to Newtownabbey in 2007 to take up the post of Director of Development Services.
In 2012 Jacqui was appointed Chief Executive of Newtownabbey Borough Council and subsequently Chief Executive of the merged Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council in March 2014.
