Kick-Start your Career in the Construction, Warehouse or Security Sector

Are you interested in a career in the Construction, Warehouse or Security Sectors? Antrim and Newtownabbey Labour Market Partnership (LMP) and Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council are offering four fully-funded academies aimed at the unemployed and under-employed in the Borough. Each academy will include all the relevant training and qualifications required for a career in the relevant industry with the added guarantee of a job interview with a local company upon completion of the course.

The free academies will focus on employability in different sectors including:

  • Warehousing Academy 1
    Monday 26 June – Friday 30 June 2023
    Level 1 Warehousing Qualification (includes COSHH and Manual Handling)
  • Construction Academy
    Monday 31 July – Friday 4 August 2023
    Includes First Aid at Work, COSSH, Manual Handling and CSR Training
  • SIA Licence Academy
    Monday 7 August – Friday 11 August 2023
    SIA Licence (includes Manned Guarding, Key Holding and First Aid Training)
  • Warehousing Academy 2
    Monday 11 September – Friday 15 September 2023
    Level 1 Warehousing Qualification (includes COSHH and Manual Handling)

Candidates who complete the Warehousing and Construction academies can potentially access a further three days forklift training and achieve their forklift licence.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Mark Cooper said: “This is a brilliant opportunity for job seekers within the Borough to develop their skills, gain qualifications and secure employment in one of three thriving sectors.”
