Celebrating International Women’s Day

Over 100 women from different backgrounds, professions and walks of life gathered at Theatre at The Mill earlier today to mark International Women’s Day – a global celebration of the historical, cultural and political achievements of women. Hosted by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, the Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Alderman Stephen Ross was joined by special guest Deputy Lieutenant for County Antrim, Julia Shirley to mark the occasion.

Remembrance Service for Sapper Patrick Azimkar and Sapper Mark Quinsey

Marking 14 years since the attack on Massereene Barracks where Sappers Patrick Azimakar and Mark Quinsey tragically lost their lives, a Service of Remembrance was held in Market Square, Antrim. Paying their respects, the Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Alderman Stephen Ross and Deputy Mayor, Councillor Leah Smyth, joined representatives from The Royal Engineers Association, The Royal British Legion, Antrim and The Royal British Legion Motor Bike Section NI to lay wreaths at the dedicated memorial.
