Mayor Meets Balmoral Businesses from the Borough

Balmoral Show, Northern Ireland’s largest agri-food event, was held on the 10 – 13 May and highlighted the amazing range and quality of local producers right across Northern Ireland.

For several years, the Council has afforded small local food and drinks producers the opportunity to display their wares at the Council stand in the NI Food Pavilion free of charge, exposing them to an event footfall of over 100,000 people.

This year, the Council was able to invite a strong mix and range of local businesses from across the Borough to the stand, including:

  • Tinholt’s Tasties
  • Maria’s Bakes
  • Lekkers NI
  • Riversdale Wagyu
  • Geterbrewed
  • Golden Popcorn Ltd
  • Belfast Artisan Gin
  • McKeever Hotels
  • The Lock Keeper’s Cottage
  • Sweet Heaven by Shona

Commenting on the event Mayor, Alderman Stephen Ross said, “It was great to be able to showcase some of the newer business ventures in the Borough as well as some of our older and well-loved establishments. I was proud to offer everyone a ‘Taste of the Borough’ from these fantastic businesses.”

The Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey recently welcomed back the food, drink and hospitality businesses to Mossley Mill for a post-show reception. The session was to celebrate the success of the Antrim and Newtownabbey stand and to thank each business for representing the Borough so professionally.

The Council plan to start recruitment early in the New Year for the 2024 event. If you are a food or drinks business in the Borough and would like to take part in the 2024 Balmoral Show keep an eye on social media channels for further information and announcements.
