Mayor visits leading IT recycling firm Vyta

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Alderman Stephen Ross was welcomed to industry leading IT recycling company, Vyta, in Mallusk during a recent visit to learn about the important work they do and to meet the team.

Vyta proudly provides an IT asset disposal and lifecycle service to some of the biggest names across finance, accounting, pharmaceutical and IT businesses, successfully growing their business as they strive to meet sustainability and compliance targets.

After securely collecting equipment from client sites, Vyta use a data sanitisation software to completely wipe all data giving customers the comfort that their data is 100% unrecoverable with existing technology. Vyta’s expert refurbishment process enables the maximum quantity of clients’ IT equipment to be refurbished for resale, rather than recycled. Items are then resold through Vyta’s sales channels including their consumer e-commerce site; RefreshedByUs.com , this supports the circular economy, helps clients to reduce their carbon footprint and provides them with a revenue return on their retired equipment.

Vyta’s rapid growth and expansion has won them Sustainable Services Company of the Year at the Business Eye Sustainability Awards 2023. Sustainability has become a key pillar at the core of organisations with rising concern for our environment. Vyta fully understand the importance of sustainability and is dedicated to helping companies reduce their carbon footprint.

Following his visit, Alderman Stephen Ross said;

“Vyta are an extremely valuable organisation, offering a high-quality service. It is great to see actions being taken to reduce our carbon footprint and protect our environment through the innovative recycling of IT assets. I am pleased the Council’s Economic Development Team has been able to offer Vyta business support in areas such as skills, recruitment, career development, supported employment and business networking to help them grow their business. I look forward to seeing further success and expansion of the company and wish the team at Vyta every success for the future.”

Vyta’s Chief Executive Officer, Philip McMichael added;

“We were delighted to welcome the Mayor to our Mallusk facility where we had the opportunity to introduce him to members of our team and give him an insight into our ethos of security, sustainability and compliance, our daily operations and the wide ranging roles of our employees. We look forward to working together with the Council’s Economic Development Team across upcoming recruitment drives, learning and development initiatives and supported employment as we continue to grow our business.”
