Throughout the month of October, Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council cordially invites everyone to participate in a series of FREE ‘Check In, Check Up’ Health Fair events that promise a diverse range of activities suitable for the older generations.
The Council’s ‘Check In, Check Up’ Health Fair events offer an opportunity to hear about the Council’s Age Friendly initiatives across the Borough. The offerings include an engaging introduction to arm chair aerobics, complimentary health checks and invaluable home safety advice.
The events will feature a variety of stalls hosted by a diverse range of local and regional groups, including Volunteer Now, Radius Floating and Support, Royal Institute for Deaf People and Community Advice Antrim and Newtownabbey, all primed to provide invaluable guidance. It’s an excellent opportunity to get connected with others in your local area.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Mark Cooper commented:
As a passionate advocate for older people, I am proud to celebrate Positive Ageing Month with our cherished seniors. I would like to encourage the older generation to avail of our Free ‘Check in, Check Up’ Health Fair events as we continue building a community that values every generation.
In conjunction with Positive Ageing Month, the Council has released a booklet titled ‘Positive Ageing Month – Get Connected’. This publication is a treasure trove of events and activities planned by local community groups and the Council, not just in the month of October, but beyond. Every attendee at a ‘Check In, Check Up’ Health Fair will receive a copy of this booklet. For those unable to attend or wishing to share the booklet with a friend it can be found online (details below), with a limited number of hard copies also available.
