Celebrating ‘OpportUNITY’ during Good Relations Week 2024!

Good Relations Week 2024 will run from 16 to 22 September and this year’s theme is ‘OpportUNITY’. Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council has partnered with other local organisations and has planned a range of events which aim to unite the local community and take action to create a more inclusive future where every voice is heard and diversity is celebrated.

Sculpture of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II unveiled in Antrim Castle Gardens

On 6 September 2024, a bronze statue of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was unveiled in Antrim Castle Gardens. The ceremony was conducted by the Lord-Lieutenant of County Antrim, Mr David McCorkell KStJ and Deputy Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Paul Dunlop BEM. The sculpture is one of the first of its kind in the UK, created to commemorate Her Late Majesty who passed away two years earlier, on 8 September 2022.

Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress walk from Antrim Civic Centre to Mossley Mill in aid of charity.

The Deputy Mayor Councillor Paul Dunlop BEM and Deputy Mayoress Mrs Heather Dunlop, have successfully completed their charity walk from Antrim Civic Centre to Mossley Mill in aid of the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support (Antrim Area Hospital).
