Upskilling Programme Celebration Highlights Achievements in Antrim and Newtownabbey

There was an air of excitement in Theatre at The Mill last week as the Antrim and Newtownabbey Labour Market Partnership, in collaboration with the Northern Regional College (NRC), hosted an evening dedicated to celebrating the accomplishments of participants in their Upskilling Programme.

The event showcased the significant strides made in addressing recruitment challenges and improving local employment prospects through the Upskilling Programme.  The programme, funded by the Department for Communities, was designed to tackle the pressing issue of skills shortages in various sectors by equipping local residents with the practical industry knowledge and skills necessary to advance their careers.

In particular, participants from two key initiatives under the Upskilling Programme were recognised; the Classroom Assistant Academy and the Employee Upskilling Academy. They were commended for their dedication and hard work in completing their training and earning their qualifications.

The Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey and Chair of the Antrim and Newtownabbey Labour Market Partnership, Councillor Neil Kelly, addressed the audience and said;

“I am delighted that the positive impacts of this programme will benefit both the participants’ careers and local businesses and organisations. A special thank you to the NRC for their pivotal role in delivering and facilitating the Classroom Assistant Academy. It was also wonderful to hear from our range of speakers this evening and to hear real life examples of the tangible benefits gained through upskilling”.

The Antrim and Newtownabbey Labour Market Partnership and Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council remain committed to improving the prospects and ambitions of all residents and organisations within the Borough.  Through these strategic programmes, local labour market challenges will be addressed to support the development of our communities.
