Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council has granted full planning permission for a new high-quality social housing development and a single retail unit in the heart of Antrim Town Centre.
The scheme represents a major investment of £7 million and forms a key component of the wider Antrim Town Centre Masterplan.
The application includes the delivery of modern, energy-efficient social homes complete with solar panels, dedicated parking, and carefully designed amenity spaces for residents. In addition, the development will feature upgraded vehicular access via Railway Street and improved pedestrian linkages to High Street, enhancing connectivity and supporting active travel in the town centre. A Council Spokesperson commented,
“This investment marks a significant milestone for Antrim. Not only will it help address the growing social housing need in our Borough, but it will also bring new life and activity into the town centre. The scheme also supports our long-term vision for a more connected, vibrant, and sustainable Antrim, and I am delighted to see it moving forward.”
