Local Talent Celebrated at the Mrs Joan Christie CVO OBE Legacy Bursary Awards 2025

The annual event celebrates exceptional young people and schools across the Borough who have demonstrated remarkable dedication in the fields of music, volunteering, and horticulture. Each recipient receives a £1,000 bursary to help further their work in their chosen area.

Established in 2019 by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, the Legacy Bursary Scheme was created in recognition of the late Mrs Joan Christie CVO OBE, former Lord Lieutenant for County Antrim, whose lifelong commitment to community and public service continues to inspire others.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Leah Kirkpatrick said “The Mrs Joan Christie CVO OBE Legacy Bursary Scheme highlights the talent and dedication of the young people within our community.
