Northern Ireland Prison Service Receives Freedom of the Borough

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council has conferred the Freedom of the Borough upon the Northern Ireland Prison Service at a special ceremony held at Theatre at The Mill. The Deputy Lieutenant for County Antrim, Pauline Shields OBE, and Director General, Beverley Wall were amongst the 150 guests, who gathered to mark this significant occasion.

King’s Award for Voluntary Service Presented to Mallusk Community Action Group

Mallusk Community Action Group (MCAG) has been awarded the prestigious King’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest honour given to local voluntary groups in the UK, in recognition of its outstanding contribution to community life in the Mallusk area. The award was presented by the Lord-Lieutenant of County Antrim, David McCorkell KStJ, at a special ceremony hosted by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council at Mossley Mill on Friday 13 February 2026.

Council Helps Over 1,000 Young People Take Next Step in their Careers

A highly successful Careers and Apprenticeship Fair took place on Wednesday 4 February at Theatre at The Mill, delivered by the Antrim and Newtownabbey Labour Market Partnership. The event welcomed 1,116 attendees and featured 54 exhibitors, with hundreds of people eager to explore education, training, and employment opportunities.

Council strikes one of the lowest rates increases across Northern Ireland

At a Special Council Meeting held on Monday 9 February, Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council struck the annual rate for 2026/27, applying a modest increase of 2.99% to the district rates. This is one of the lowest rates increases across all other Councils.
