Council Marks the 78th Anniversary of the National Health Service

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is proud to recognise and celebrate the 78th Anniversary of the National Health Service on 5 July 2026 and to express its sincere appreciation to all health and social care workers across the Borough.

To mark the occasion, Antrim Civic Centre, Ballyclare Town Hall and Mossley Mill will light up blue on 5 July as a visible tribute to the NHS and to the dedicated health and social care staff who serve our communities.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Henry Cushinan commented,

"As we celebrate the 78th Anniversary of the NHS, we pay tribute to all those working across health and social care for their dedication, professionalism and compassion. Their commitment to caring for others, often under significant pressure, unprecedented demand and workforce challenges is truly remarkable. We also recognise and thank the many staff who have come from around the world and chosen to make our Borough their home. Their contribution strengthens our services and enriches our communities.

"On behalf of the Council and our residents, I extend our heartfelt gratitude to every member of the health and social care workforce for the invaluable role they play in supporting the health and wellbeing of our Borough."
