Council Statement
In relation to the ongoing closure of John Street Play Park in Randalstown, the Council can confirm that all necessary permissions and surveys relating to the adjacent property have now been completed, and a contractor has been appointed to carry out the required remedial works. It is anticipated that these works will commence shortly.
Unfortunately, the park must remain closed at this time due to the ongoing risk posed by the neighbouring property, including the potential for falling debris. While the Council recognises the importance of the play park to local families and the wider community, public safety remains the top priority. As such, the park cannot reopen, even partially, until the area is confirmed to be safe.
The Council sincerely apologises for the disruption caused and appreciates the community’s patience and understanding. The Council is working closely with all relevant parties to progress the necessary repairs and facilitate the safe reopening of the play park as soon as possible.
