Get Ready for Summer at Hazelbank Play Park

Hazelbank Play Park has now been officially reopened by the Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Leah Kirkpatrick, just in time for the summer months. With only a few weeks left before schools finish, the upgraded park is set to be a popular spot for families across the Borough.

Hazelbank Play Park forms part of the Council’s £2 million investment programme to enhance play facilities, with parks across the Borough receiving significant upgrades. Three local play parks, The Diamond, Rathcoole; King’s Park, Newtownabbey; and The Sovereign Centre, Rathfern have also recently reopened following extensive refurbishment works and the installation of new play equipment.

The Mayor welcomed pupils from Rathcoole Primary School as she officially unveiled the upgraded facilities.

The Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Leah Kirkpatrick said,

“I’m delighted to officially reopen Hazelbank Play Park, located beside our beautiful Coronation Garden. The improvements made here provide a safe, accessible and inclusive space for children of all ages to enjoy, just in time for the summer. Continued investment in our play parks is vital for supporting families and ensuring every child has access to high‑quality, inclusive play opportunities.”

This investment is part of the Council’s wider £2 million programme to enhance play parks across the Borough. Further details are available at antrimandnewtownabbey.gov.uk/playgrounds
