Get ready for the BIG Spring Clean 2026!

Residents across Antrim and Newtownabbey are being invited to roll up their sleeves and join Northern Ireland’s largest volunteer clean-up – The BIG Spring Clean, taking place from 1 March to 30 April.

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is proud to support this year’s campaign, encouraging individuals, schools, businesses, and community groups to come together to tackle litter and make our Borough shine.

This year, two flagship clean-up events will take place:

  • Friday 20 March, 10.30am - Wallace Park, Templepatrick (Meeting point: Wallace Park Carpark)
  • Saturday 18 April, 10.30am - Lilian Bland Park, Glengormley (Meeting Point: Ballyclare Road Carpark)

Schools and community groups are also encouraged to ‘Adopt a Spot’ and organise their own local clean-up. The Council can provide litter-picking equipment and collect rubbish through its Support in Kind programme. For details, email waste@antrimandnewtownabbey.gov.uk.

The Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Leah Kirkpatrick, who will be joining the Wallace Park clean-up, said:

"The BIG Spring Clean is about more than just litter, it’s about community spirit, enjoying the outdoors and making a real difference to where we live. Every volunteer helps create a cleaner, greener Borough we can all be proud of. So grab your gloves and join us – together, we can make a lasting impact!"
