Supported by PEACEPLUS and delivered by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council in collaboration with Belfast Photo Festival, Exploring Antrim and Newtownabbey will celebrate the Borough throughout the four seasons.
The project will feature professional photography commissions alongside a public competition, encouraging people of all ages and abilities to get out and explore the places, people and stories that make the Borough unique.
From stunning landscapes to historic landmarks and hidden gems, participants are invited to showcase the Borough’s natural and built heritage through their own unique perspective.
The project takes inspiration from the work of photographers Evanna Devine, Nuala Kerrigan, Conn McCarrick and Joe Laverty, whose photographs offer different perspectives on the Borough and its character.
The Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Henry Cushinan, said, “I encourage everyone, whether an experienced photographer or just starting out, to get out and explore the Borough and capture what makes Antrim and Newtownabbey special.”
The Director of Belfast Photo Festival, Toby Smith, said, “Our four professional photographers were commissioned to explore the Borough, and inspire photographers of all backgrounds to share their images with us in a public competition. Selected images will be exhibited at Antrim Castle Gardens, featuring both in Home and Garden Show Ireland and Belfast Photo Festival 2027.”
Supported by PEACEPLUS, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).
The competition closes on Sunday 4 April 2027.
