This urban DEA includes the electoral wards of:  Abbey, Carnmoney Hill, O’Neill, Rathcoole, Valley and Whitehouse.  The area’s assets include Carnmoney Hill, V36 Park, part of the Newtownabbey Way and the Valley Leisure Centre which provides opportunities for the more active resident.  Within this DEA is the large out of town shopping centre, Abbeycentre and surrounding retail units, towards the Shore Road, Whiteabbey Hospital provides a range of non-acute services, Northern Regional Colleges main campus and the hidden gem of the Whitehouse Visitor Centre can be found.  Madedon DEA is the gateway to the Causeway Coastal route.
