Attend and actively participate in regular meetings of the Over 50’s Council.
Gather relevant input from the community through conversations, informal networks and local groups about the issues they face living in the Borough.
Participate in decisions that affect your life and that of residents in the Borough.
Provide feedback from meetings to older people, groups and local stakeholders.
Represent all older people in the area and not just a specific interest or group.
Build and foster new working relationships.

Anyone over 50 years old and is a resident with a postcode in Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough.
An active participant in your community who is trusted and respected by others. This could be involvement in a community group, a volunteer or in an advocacy role relating to older people.
Committed to improving the lives of those ageing in Antrim and Newtownabbey.
Strong communicator with the ability to actively listen as well as speak clearly and represent the views and opinions of others.
Understanding of local issues and challenges facing older people in the Borough.
Should be able to set aside adequate time to attend meetings.

Approximately 1 meeting per quarter (every three months). Location will rotate around the Borough. Please note: no transport to meetings will be provided, it is your responsibility to organise travel to and from the meeting location.
Participation will be reviewed regularly.
Further time commitment will be required for those who participate in task and finish groups to deliver specific actions within the Age-Friendly Strategic Workplan 2025-2028.
